Logging On
Every time you enter the site and want to utilize its features you'll have to log on first. You will not have to log back onto the site unless you quit your browser or are inactive on the site for longer than your timeout setting. This setting is changeable. See the section
Modifying your Account Settings below for more information.

If your session times-out you will need to log back on to use the site.

Searching
Once logged onto the site you may search for images you are interested in. Click on the search button at the top of the screen to load the search page.

The search features of the site allow you to search for images using criteria such as subject, theme, style and technique. You may also search by file name or artist, if known.
To select more than one thing in any box hold down the CTRL key, and click with the left mouse button (on a PC), or on the Macintosh hold down the Command key and click each additional row with the mouse.

After choosing your search parameters click on the search button to retrieve images that match your settings. Click on the reset button to reset the search form to its initial state.

Working with Found Images - Thumbnails
If no images are found a message will display to that effect. Click the "back" button on your browser or click again on the
search form button at the top of the screen to try again. Note: some entries in the search parameter boxes will not match any images currently in our database. However, due to the size of our database, most searches will find something...

When images are found they will first display in thumbnail mode showing a small version of the picture and the file's name. The groups display as pages with the number of graphics on each page being the size of the grid defined in your user settings. For example, if your grid is setup to show 2 rows and 5 columns then each page will show 10 graphics. If your search found 500 images that matched the criteria, then you would have 50 pages of graphics to click through. The user grid can be changed by clicking on the settings link at the top of the screen.

Click the small thumbnail image to see a larger version of the graphic. At the top and bottom of the thumbnail graphics are navigation links to the other groups of graphics found during the search. Note: The site only shows 40 pages at a time in the navigation links. In the example above you would only start out seeing links for pages 1-40 even though 50 pages worth of images were found. If you were to click on any page higher than number 9, however, the site would show links for pages 10-50.

The navigation section also has PREV and NEXT links that will walk backward or forward through the set of pages. These links will be inactive when on the first or last page of a set, respectively.

Working with Found Images - Full Size
When an image is viewed in Full Size mode more of the site's features are available such as adding the image to one of your collection or to the request list. To view a full-size image click on its smaller thumbnail version. A printer-friendly version of the graphic is available by clicking on the image itself.

This will display the picture in a new window without extraneous graphics or information. If you have access to a color printer THIS WILL BE THE BEST WAY TO GET LARGE IMAGES FOR COMPS. Simply print out the window of the printer-friendly page. You may still request hardcopy images from Designs by Current but a short turnaround time cannot be guaranteed.

Working with Collections
When viewing an image in Full Size mode it can be added to any one of your collections. If you don't have any collections created you will need to make one. You can have up to 5 collections with up to 100 items per collection. You can give the collection any name you desire. A descriptive name such as "Christmas - Kids" or "Graduation Images" will help make more sense of the collection at a later date.

To create a new collection go to the collections page and enter a new collection name in the text field at the bottom of the page. Next click on the add button to have the collection added to the above list.

You may view the contents of an existing collection by selecting its name from the list and clicking on the "view" button. To delete a collection and all of its contents, select its name from the list and click on the delete button. Note: This cannot be undone!

When viewing a collection, the images will initially be shown in the display grid layout specified in your
user settings. Clicking on a small image will show it at a larger size just as in a normal search.

The large view of a collection image gives you additional functions. You can go back to the thumbnail view, add the image to your request list, remove the image from the collection entirely or copy/move it to another collection. Copying makes a duplicate entry in the other collection. Moving takes it out of the first collection and moves it to the other. Click on the large image to view it in a printer-friendly window.

Using the Request List
In any full size view an image can be added to your request list. The request list feature is essentially a "shopping-cart" where you can add image information to send into Designs by Current personnel. To add an image into your request list click on the "Add Image to Request List" text when viewing the large version of the image. To view the contents of your request list at any time click the "Request List" link at the top of the page.

On the request list page you can remove images from the list or process the list into either a printer-ready fax form to fax in or email it to Designs by Current personnel.

Modifying your Account Settings
To change any of your account settings such as display grid size, password or contact information, click the settings link at the top of the page.

The display grid setting controls the numbers of rows and columns for pages of thumbnail graphics. Changes to the display grid take place immediately.

After modifying the appropriate information click the update button at the bottom of the screen to have your changes take effect. Note: a password change will require you to enter the new password TWICE to confirm it and will take effect the next time you logon.

The session timeout setting determines how long your account can remain inactive without asking you to log on again.
